Best for: Commuters who like twenty minute stories.

Noah reads like he performs: short setups, a pause, then the turn. The essays that lean into comedy land hardest, but the quieter chapters about his mother are where the narration matters most.

Switching between languages is something a hired narrator could not do with the same ease, and it gives the book a texture print cannot.

Each chapter stands on its own, which makes this a good commute listen in twenty minute pieces.

What we loved

  • ✓Author's comedy timing
  • ✓Four languages performed naturally
  • ✓Short, self contained chapters

Worth knowing

  • –Some chapters jump in time
  • –Heavy themes beneath the jokes

The verdict

Author narration at its best. Choose the audio over the print edition.
